Major legislative changes have been occuring within Europe with the aim to reduce emmisions of Volotile Organic Compounds (VOC). It is important to note that this directive only affects Europe.

However the directive does affect some of the products we use in Australia from Europe, and so Spies Hecker has made some changes within the product portfolio to meet these guidelines. What does the mean to you?

You’ll notice over the next few months some changes to our product range, primarily products that are manufactured in Europe. Some products will have minor name changes to reflect that they are VOC complaint; other products will be replaced. Here are some of the upcoming changes:

• Permasolid HS Premium Surfacer 5310: you may have already noticed new labels on the 5310 can showing a new 7:1 with VHS hardener mix ratio. This has been added to meet the EU directive. A new mix stick will be available soon showing the 7:1 mix. Orders for the mixing stick can be placed through your distributor.
  
  
• HS Diamond Clear Coat 8450: This product replaces Permacron Diamond Clear Coat 8400
  
  
• Raderal Spray Polyester 3508NEW. This is a straight product replacement for Raderal Spray Polyester 3508 to satisfy VOC regulations.
  
  
• New Epoxy Primer will be released as a replacement to Hepox 4090 2:1 Primer Surfacer.
  
  
• Introduction of Permasolid HS Express Filler 5250: Not only is the 5250 easy to apply, cost-effective and eco-frienfly it is boosted by much faster air drying.

Permacron® MS Brilliant Clear Coat 8040 is a new high-gloss, medium solids clear from Spies Hecker which provides flexibility and reliability over a wide range of applications.

This is a top quality medium solids product which exhibits outstanding gloss and features high filling, flow, initial and through drying properties.

Built on the latest medium solids technology, Permacron MS Brilliant Clear Coat is a user friendly clear that can noticeably contribute to the productivity of the workshop.

Hard and strong, yet high-gloss – with these properties, Permacron® Diamond Clear Coat 8400 from Spies Hecker is everything a modern, scratch-resistant clear coat should be. It can be used both on conventional base coats and on the eco-friendly Permahyd® Waterborne Base Coat Series 280/285.

This innovative product combines exceptional technical properties with practical application. Before use, the clear coat is mixed 2:1 with special Permacron® Diamond Hardener 3384. The product can then be applied in two coats. The recommended film thickness is 40 to 60 µm. The total drying time is 35 to 40 minutes at 65 to 70°C metal temperature.

Permacron® MS Clear Coat 8015™ delivers time and cost savings through its fast bake and air-dry properties, without compromise in appearance or durability. It is a highly versatile product enabling finishing in either one 1½ coat operation or as a two coat application.

Excellent leveling and high gloss ensure a quality finish and its versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. MS 8015™ needs 10 min @ 60°C metal temp baking, which saves on booth heating energy and time.

If you know anything about seed bins you’ve probably heard the name Finch. Des Finch of Kaimkillenbun, at the foothills of the Bunya Mountains, just north of Dalby in Queensland, today has a thriving business in them.

His company, Finch Engineering, officially opened for business in 1983 with the intention of providing general welding and farm repair services to the local area. Hot on the heels of the introduction of Spies Hecker’s Priomat® 1K Wash Primer 4085, the company has announced the addition of a useful aerosol variant to the range.

Priomat® Wash Primer is an extremely good, general use product for a wide range of applications. As a quality primer it has excellent gloss and flow, outstanding corrosion protection and is re-coatable with all 2K acrylic surfacers and top coat systems from the Spies Hecker range, including waterborne basecoat.

New Spies Hecker SpectroFlex 5400 is a range of 6 coloured HS surfacers that are extremely versatile and provide a practical and economical solution to a bodyshop’s needs.

Spies Hecker's new zinc-chromate-free Priomat® 1K Wash Primer 4085 belongs to the future generation of advanced primers. What makes this product so innovative is that it can be used beneath any top coat system. A versatile product, it can be used either as a wash primer in a single coat followed by 2K Acrylic Surfacer or as a primer surfacer in one to three coats.
