One of Australia’s
most recognised brands ‘Pioneer’
was acquired by the UK based Hanson
PCL in 2000, one of the largest aggregate,
concrete and building products producers
in the world.
Everyone would have been aware of
the Pioneer vehicles on our roads
throughout Australia. With over 1500
vehicles in the fleet it is not surprising
that their presence was highly visible.
Imagine then the task involved in
re-branding this huge vehicle fleet
to the Hanson Corporate livery. It
represents a major task in logistics
and quality control to ensure that
the changeover goes smoothly with
no noticeable impacts to customers
as well as the high quality of workmanship
demanded by Hanson.
The project programme requires that
the fleet of concrete agitators, aggregate
tippers and service vehicles be refinished
over a two year period which commenced
in June this year.
The first task was to select the
paint products to be used and Hanson,
after exhaustive research, specified
Spies Hecker products, mainly from
the Permafleet CV 2K range, for the
job. The Spies Hecker finishes offered
the quality and durability demanded
for these hard working vehicles and
the network of Spies Hecker bodyshops
Australia wide provided the logistical
solution to repainting such a large
and widely dispersed fleet.
Comprehensive paint specifications
were established by Spies Hecker and
careful colour matching completed
to Hanson corporate standards. These
specifications were then distributed
to all participating bodyshops.
Such a large project requires co-operation
on a major scale between parties involved
and, two months into the programme,
Spies Hecker reports that progress
is excellent.
